Natalie’s mother is a professional garden designer and a lifelong garden enthusiast. It was such a treat to have her come visit us to do the initial planting in the garden. We plan on growing flowers that we can use in our arrangements along with rare varieties that we cannot find at the market.
Natalie and Seth are designing a green wall to be built along this back wall. In the meantime, we have brought in pots that we filled with strawberries, dahlias and barberry.
We emphasized cutting flowers and plants in the bed along the brick wall. Fun grasses, pods and textured flowers will be snipped from this area of the garden and especially used for boutonnieres. The matilija poppy, one of my all time favorites and currently the only California native, got a special place in the corner.
