for the love of dutch flowers

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetI am on a trip of a lifetime to visit the flower scene in Holland. I planned the trip around the un-plannable. Nature. We chose the dates of our trip carefully to coincide with the blooming flower fields covering the Dutch countryside. Sadly, the flowers came early this year and I missed the fields by a single week. At first I was heart-broken but then I realized that this is a continuing lesson I face in life. You cannot plan everything and life happens and nature has a plan of it’s own. As a result of my disappointment about the tulip fields, I think I have been embracing all of the abundant flowers everywhere else with more appreciation and attention.

photo 2These images are from our trip to the Keukenhof gardens. While the flowers were just a week past their prime, the number of varieties and the sheer size of the blooms were awe inspiring. I was completely mesmerized by the “pathway” of muscari in the above photo. It went on forever…
