foreign cinema

urban affair

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

Amit and Casey were one of our favorite couples this year. They got married at the historic Court of Appeals followed by a reception at  Foreign Cinema. We could feel the love as soon we walked in to the room and we could tell that this was going to be a fun and heart felt evening. Jerry Yoon captured some of the pretty images below.

Photos from our own library show the dusty gray-lavendar palette in matching gray wood boxes. We used a fragrant mix of herbs, succulents, lotus pods, eucalyptus, dusty miller and estrangea.

We were honored to be invited to take part in the inspiration photo shoot that was featured last week on Grey Likes Weddings.

Huge thanks to Melanie Duerkopp for the stunning images, Amanda O’Shannessy for the organizing the project plus providing all the vintage rentals, and for every piece of letterpress by the talented duo behind The Aerialist Press.

We provided flowers for two different themes. Above, the French Country brunch features ranunculus, parrot tulips, poppies, viburnum, narcissus lisianthus and dusty miller.

For the Gramercy Suite theme we went with a blush palette featuring anemones, roses, ranunculus, sweet pea, parrot tulips, sumac, jasmine, and viburnum. There are so many gorgeous images from this photo shoot that we’ll certainly share more.

a night at the cinema

Foreign Cinema is one of our favorite venues. It is perfect just the way it is and needs very little to embellish it’s fun and funky interior. With photos captured by Jerry Yoon this couple took the right approach with a fresh and textural floral scheme. Simply laid bay leaf lined the center of the table and textural elements such as air plants, succulents and other non-floral elements accented their additional decor.

Happy Valentine’s Day all you lovers out there.

Looking Back at 2012

Monday, December 31st, 2012

2012 was quite a year for Natalie Bowen Designs. We are amazed to say that we flowered the weddings of 43 couples and over 100 events. We made arrangements for private houses, fancy hotels, photo shoots and our first celebrity wedding. We travelled to New England and Wyoming (twice) for work and are making plans for a trip to Tulum, Mexico for a wedding this coming Spring. We had a pop-up at Pot and Pantry for Valentine’s Day and are inches away from signing a commercial lease on a new studio space in SOMA.

There is so much to celebrate in 2012…including some of our favorite flower arrangements. Take a look to see what we were designing when we weren’t busy doing everything else.

I had the great pleasure to be featured in the San Francisco Chronicle last Sunday. You can read the two articles here and here and see better photos, too!
