We were honored to be invited to take part in the inspiration photo shoot that was featured last week on Grey Likes Weddings.

Huge thanks to Melanie Duerkopp for the stunning images, Amanda O’Shannessy for the organizing the project plus providing all the vintage rentals, and for every piece of letterpress by the talented duo behind The Aerialist Press.

We provided flowers for two different themes. Above, the French Country brunch features ranunculus, parrot tulips, poppies, viburnum, narcissus lisianthus and dusty miller.

For the Gramercy Suite theme we went with a blush palette featuring anemones, roses, ranunculus, sweet pea, parrot tulips, sumac, jasmine, and viburnum. There are so many gorgeous images from this photo shoot that we’ll certainly share more.

fiesta for the baby

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

Baby Diego is is almost here! My sweet friend Katie Hintz-Zambrano from Refinery 29 is weeks away from welcoming her sweet little guy in to this fashionable world. We designed fun fiesta flowers for her fete. The super talented Molly DeCoudreaux captured the colorful fun for us.

Have you ever smelled a baby diaper filled with melted chocolate that looks like poo? Well, I have.

bouquets to art

Bouquets to Art at the de Young museum is this week and our instillation is up. Our floral sculptures were inspired by Jo Baer’s massive white canvases framed in black with a touch of blue. A huge thanks to Melanie Duerkopp for these beautiful photos that really capture the piece.

We used cherry, pear and over 600 white tulips as the floral elements in our piece. But don’t take our word for it,  it’s not too late to join the crowds and see the piece for yourself. Installations stay up through Saturday and it’s really a wonderful way to enjoy the art at the de Young.

For images from the past three years that we have participated in this exhibition take a look here.

Today we are installing this years Bouquets to Art piece at the de Young museum. For those who are not familiar, each exhibitor is assigned a piece of artwork and asked to make a floral arrangement or sculpture that is inspired by that artwork. We are taking a moment to look back at the pieces we did the last three years and cannot wait to share this years piece with you later this week!

This arrangement that we made for a collaboration with Bess Friday and Margret Elizabeth for Matchbook might have had something to do with our inspiration for this year’s Bouquets to Art concept. Installation is only a week away! We’ll share our past pieces with you this week and we hope you’ll be inspired to walk through the DeYoung and see what we and many other local florists come up with.
